Amy Nielsen from Frederick Andersen Street is fond of the fantasy universe of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling and has always dreamt of writing fantasy/adventure books for children and young people.
Originally from the Philippines, this lady has come out with her English debut-novel "Victor and the Sun Orb", published in USA by iUniverse and available worldwide through internet book shops.
Besides Rowling's universe, the novel has also a touch of "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings".
"Victor and the Sun Orb" is first part of a trilogy about Victor and his battle against the wicked, who seized the power of the sun orb.
"The novel aims to entertain and stimulate children's fantasy. They will be ushered in a new world, Solandia, where they can explore the sun fairies' magical world," says Amy Nielsen.
It is full of action and fantasy in the story, and at the same time, children learn to appreciate the value of family, love, and friendship over greediness, desire for power, and egoism.
A dark, hooded figure casts a spell on Victor
Amy Nielsen together with her husband Steffen Nielsen has lived in Kalundborg for three years now. They met in Copenhagen while Amy was visiting relatives in Denmark.
She has a bachelor's degree in English from Saint Louis University in Baguio City, Philippines, and currently works in Novo in Kalundborg, and does her writing during weekends.
The fantasy novel's main character, Victor, should enjoy a carefree life, but from an early age, he finds himself very busy. He learns complex magic and martial arts, and is taught how to live in a human world.
It's all because his parents, King Godfred and Queen Magenta know of a curse that was cast on their son on his baptism day by a dark, hooded figure with eyes that burn like coal. On his thirteenth birthday, their beloved son will leave the fantasy kingdom of Solandia, gain his mortality and live with humans.
In order to be free from the spell, Victor must retrieve the mystical sun orb, a magical power, which has fell in the hands of the dark, hooded figure. Challenging him breaks out war between the forces of light and darkness, the good fairies against the bad fairies.
